Drawn toward the luminosity of the extraordinary black orchid, the hummingbird suspends time with his wings.  The strength of the winged guardian’s shoulder arrests the cosmic flux and makes destiny his own in dawn’s early light. As the elegant ebony flower embraced by the rich black ink yields, it is bathed in the honeyed light of the new morn.  The orchid’s sensual petals unfurl at dawn expanding in the negative space, while the bird treasuring the sweet nectar declares the new day--each day. 

The black lush leaves placing the orchid in time reaffirm the cycle of life—night returns to be awakened by dawn’s pledge of eternal love. As midnight surrenders, and richly inked strokes melt into light, dawn renews her eternal promise. Light rays chase forever on the sensuous curve of the black leaf, a visual echo of the bird’s beak as it gracefully arcs at the globe’s edge.
